S.T. Dupont lighter x Fender lighter ignites a fiery tribute to guitar legends

S.T. Dupont teams up once again with rock legend Fender to launch a bold new collaboration series, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the iconic Stratocaster. Marking the grand opening of Fender’s new flagship store in Harajuku, Tokyo, this reunion follows their widely praised 2016 debut. Fusing masterful craftsmanship with the electrifying adrenaline of rock, the collection draws inspiration from Japanese culture and the blazing legacy of legendary electric guitars.

This exclusive collaboration features two iconic collections — the Black & Golden Series and the Blue & Golden Series — each paying tribute to guitar legends Eric Clapton and Kurt Cobain. The designs draw direct inspiration from their signature Fender guitars: the Stratocaster® used by Clapton and the Mustang® favored by Cobain. Through shimmering gold dust detailing and elegant body curves, the soul of rock is infused into every luxury writing instrument and accessory.

Two legends, two styles — Fender lighter Black & Golden and Fender lighter Blue & Golden.

The Black & Golden Series pays homage to Eric Clapton and the legendary Stratocaster® guitar. As one of Fender’s most iconic models, the Stratocaster® has long been a dream instrument for countless musicians worldwide. S.T. Dupont captures the essence of its classic black finish, incorporating signature body curves and fretboard details into a design that honors both music and craftsmanship. This collection embodies the spirit of "Rock never dies, legends live on," with every fountain pen and lighter reflecting intricate, unforgettable details.

The Blue & Golden Series pays tribute to Kurt Cobain and the iconic Mustang® guitar he played in the legendary “Smells Like Teen Spirit” music video. That very blue Fender Mustang® sold for $4.5 million in 2022, cementing its place as an immortal symbol in rock history. Drawing inspiration from this iconic moment, S.T. Dupont uses the same moody, youthful blue as the collection’s main color. With precision-sculpted pen bodies and meticulous details, the series salutes one of the most rebellious chapters in the legacy of rock.

Each series comes with exclusive accessories, including a cigar cutter, an ashtray, and a guitar pick–shaped pendant engraved with interlocking initials. These finely crafted pieces complete the collection, offering a stylish nod to both rock heritage and refined lifestyle essentials.

Craftsmanship and Eastern Philosophy

This series pays homage to the Japanese art of Kintsugi—the poetic practice of repairing with natural lacquer and sealing fractures with gold dust to transform broken fragments into a timeless beauty, symbolizing rebirth and the “perfect imperfection”. This ancient, resilient craftsmanship philosophy echoes S.T. Dupont’s devotion to lacquer artistry and hand-applied gold dust, weaving a profound dialogue between Oriental philosophy and French artisanal excellence.

The techniques of Kintsugi and gold dust artistry manifest in products as unique golden seam patterns—like traces of art honed by time—imbuing each piece with soul and history. Through creativity and reverence, they render rock‑&‑roll spirit into exquisite luxury objects, offering a heartfelt tribute to sound and time.

Born for legends
In this collection, the Ligne 2 lighter and Line D Eternity writing instruments are reimagined as “visual musical instruments.” The lighter, rollerball pen, and fountain pen integrate guitar forms and string motifs: the lighter cap features a new guilloché pattern inspired by Kintsugi cracks, while the pen clip is transformed into a guitar head. Every detail underscores the brand’s passion for craftsmanship and the pursuit of harmonious beauty.
