Lacquerware dates back to the second millennium BCE and was introduced to Europe during the height of Ming Dynasty lacquer fashion in the 18th century. By rediscovering and refining ancient Japanese and Chinese techniques, S.T. Dupont craftsmen became among the few who mastered the complex and organic art of lacquering.
