Before starting any repair, prepare the following tools:

 S.T. Dupont Lighter Cannot Be Refilled

When your S.T. Dupont lighter cannot be refilled with gas, identifying the root cause quickly will help you resolve the issue more efficiently. The most common reasons include:

（1）Use Regular Butane Gas

Use regular high-quality butane gas; there is no need to use Dupont-branded gas. It is recommended to use a gas canister with a long plastic nozzle rather than a short metal one, as shown in the image below.

Adapter Requirement for S.T. Dupont Lighter Refueling

As shown in the image, lighters with a valve that matches the butane can nozzle can be refueled directly, ensuring a secure seal and smooth gas transfer.
For lighters with a different valve structure, an adapter must be used during refueling to achieve compatibility and prevent leakage.

First-Time Use Guide: What to Check If Your Lighter Won’t Ignite

When you receive a new lighter, it may not ignite immediately due to several common reasons. Please follow the steps below to check and solve the issue before use.

1 Refill Gas Before First Use

Due to international shipping safety requirements, lighters are shipped with the gas released before delivery. Therefore, the lighter needs to be refilled before the first use. Please refill the lighter properly and try igniting it again.

2. Adjust the Flame Height

If the flame is too small or too large, the lighter may not ignite properly. Adjusting the flame height to the appropriate level can help restore normal ignition performance.

3. Replace the Flint Wheel After Long-Term Use

A new lighter normally does not require a flint wheel replacement. This issue usually occurs after long-term use when the flint wheel becomes worn or the friction decreases, resulting in weaker sparks or difficulty igniting. If this happens, please replace the flint wheel according to the maintenance guide.

Regarding the leakage issue from the gas filling port or gas adjustment valve, please check the repair tutorial video first to see whether you can complete the repair by yourself.

If you are able to repair it yourself:

  1. Please purchase the corresponding repair tool kit in advance.
  2. Please purchase the correct replacement parts according to the leakage location:

    Gas adjustment valve leakage: replace part #719
  3. Follow the steps shown in the repair tutorial video to complete the replacement.
